Industry Veteran, Amy Knowles, Joins Mid-Atlantic Division Leadership Team

Balfour Beatty is proud to announce the recent hire of Amy Knowles as the Mid-Atlantic Division’s new vice president of Finance. Serving as a strategic business partner to Division president Leon Blondin, local Business unit leaders and our operations teams, Amy will assess Balfour Beatty’s current processes and provide recommendations for streamlining them. In doing so, the finance team can focus their energy on analyzing the business, providing increased visibility to financial projections and connecting more closely with the business.

Never one to shy away from a challenge (in fact, she thrives on solving “complex, thorny” problems), Amy hit the ground running. “We have a fantastic team here in the Mid-Atlantic office and a great portfolio of work,” said Amy. “I’m looking forward to getting out to the jobsites and learning more about our work, partnering alongside Operations, collaborating with the acquisition team, and helping solve business challenges.”

Her interest in the construction industry is rooted in the impact it has on our daily lives—from schools, hospitals, entertainment centers, residential and office buildings to roads and bridges. “There are few industries that are impacted by such a variety of external factors. It’s always fascinating to me to analyze trends and strategize about how these forces will impact our business and how we can stay ahead of the curve,” Amy reflected.

Amy holds an MBA from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science from Tulane University. In addition to her financial expertise, Amy values the fair treatment of others, the art of listening and the courage to always ask questions.

A native of Maryland, Amy lives in Potomac with her husband Scott and her daughter Sophia. In her spare time Amy enjoys running, volunteering with local non-profit Girls on the Run, and spending time with her family.
